education. arts. culture.

Welcome to the Silverlake Independent Jewish Community Center (SIJCC), a vibrant space for connection, learning, and celebration. Founded in 1951, SIJCC fosters a progressive, inclusive environment where Jewish culture and community thrive.

From our Early Childhood Education and Jewish Learning Center to Festival of Lights and community events, we offer opportunities for all ages to explore, grow, and connect.

Programs at the SIJCC

The SIJCC’s Early Childhood Program is open to all members of the community regardless of cultural or religious affiliations. Through song, dance, celebration, and exploration of holidays, children become attuned to the changing of the seasons and to their own growth and development in ways that are deeply relevant to their daily lives.

Building community and actualizing the vision of a coming-of age experience for each individual and family.

Life cycle events are the moments that mark personal and communal change and transition. From welcoming new life to honoring loved ones who have passed to changing one’s name or surviving an ordeal, rituals old and new hold the power of pause. And in that pause, we can connect with our ancestors, ourselves, and one another.
